'The Overwhelming' is an extremely exciting and challenging piece of theatre for EUTCo to commission, as its subject matter is that of the tensions in pre-genocide Rwanda in 1994. The play portrays how mistrust and ignorance are dangerous forces which ultimately led to the conflict in Rwanda; but also illuminates the beauty of those people who continued to live their lives as normal.

This play is important to stage as the conflict in Rwanda is not something which simply happened in a 'remote African country' but rather was the result of human nature. In other words: it could happen anywhere. We hope that we can communicate this message in our production of 'The Overwhelming', and invite you to be part of it.
